UT Dallas SCC staff and clinicians value the mental health of our Comet community, and we believe there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to mental health. These may include brief individual or relationship therapy (approximately six sessions per a school year, but may be adjusted as needed), workshops, group therapy, psychiatric services, other UTD resources or off-campus services. Multiple services within a step or tier may be recommended. This means clients are prescribed services based on their presenting concerns, accessibility, consideration of identity variables and readiness for treatment. The UTD SCC operates from a stepped care model. What to Expect after Your Initial Consultation Be available and ready to engage in session on your scheduled day/time. ![]() Don’t have a private space? Let us know, and we can set you up in our in-office virtual therapy suite. Find a private and quiet space where you feel comfortable talking.Ensure you have a working computer/phone and Wi-Fi (if needed).Create a Microsoft Teams account utilizing your UTD NetID and password.This therapist will not necessarily be your therapist moving forward, but will be responsible for getting you established as a SCC client. You will meet with a therapist who has reviewed your paperwork, and they will collaborate with you and connect you to the most appropriate services at either the SCC, UT Dallas or off-campus. Your paperwork will be reviewed by UT Dallas Student Counseling Center (SCC) staff for immediate needs.You will need to provide your student ID (the 10-digit number on the front of your Comet Card).(You will have one hour before your link times out, at which point the process must be restarted.)
